What I Wear In Oklahoma

Happy Thursday to ya'll!

Today I thought I'd show everyone what I like to wear for Oklahoma's crazy weather. At the moment, it is 87 degrees (Fahrenheit) and humid! Very humid. :( So, what better way to beat the heat with a flowy, breathable strapless dress?!

The dress I'm wearing here was thrifted (bought at a thrift store), so the tag is faded and I'm not sure who made the dress. It is a beautiful coral, black, and white dress made mainly out of polyester. The sheer black and white chevron skirt is made with a mesh-type fabric and there is a small black under skirt, too. I really love the way it feels and it's super comfortable! The only downside is the built-in pads or bra. The pad inserts are black, and very noticeable through the coral bandeau. They are also quite heavy and weigh the dress down a little, causing it to slide while walking. The dress is a nice length, but I'm only 5'5", so I need to wear some wedges or heels with this.
The wedges I'm wearing are just some Wal-Mart brand (Faded Glory). For cheap shoes ($20), they are very decent and great to walk in!
On my toenails, I'm sporting Sally Hansen's Triple Shine nail varnish in Make Waves (#160). It looks more blue in the photograph, but in person, the color is more vibrant and teal. It's a great summer nail polish! :)
For accessories, I'm just wearing my Pandora charm bracelet. The charms I have on it are all mostly gifts from my family and I've had it since I was 16. These bracelets are extremely strong! And on my head, I'm pulling my second-day hair back with a cute, flexible bow headband from Hot Topic.
I used to carry a purse while I was back in high school, but since I'm going to start college in FOUR DAYS (!!), my mom bought me a Vera Bradley phone and card wallet. I'm not exactly sure what style it is (like, the design), but it's very versatile and will work perfectly for college. My Samsung Galaxy S3 barely fits in the phone compartment, though, because I think it's made for iPhones.

I'm not much of a make-up person, but I do apply moisturizer! I use Neutrogena's tinted moisturizer. Wearing make-up in this heat would be a disaster waiting to happen!
I'm sorry if this was a typical girly or boring post, but I thought I'd just show you an idea of what to wear during the summer in Oklahoma! :) Thanks for reading!

I'm still alive, I promise!

A lot has happened since the last entry, so allow me to catch up on a couple things here!

  • I am finally enrolled into college as a Freshman! No more stupid concurrent enrollment stuff.
  • I turned 18 on August 2nd! I don't feel very different but there are so many things I can do now, like buy scratch lottery tickets at a local gas station.
  • My boyfriend is moving to a town called Stillwater to attend college. :( Today was the last day I got to see him. I will get to see him eventually and we may even Skype.
  • I bought a new cell phone! One with more RAM than my old phone, which means more posts!
  • I started a daily journal (a physical one) so I could keep track of my ideas and other nonsense that I want to post online.
  • I finally got around to cleaning my room, now I just need to organize it a little better. ;)
So, there's all the catch-up, now to the real post!

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to SkyZone to jump on the trampolines and spend more time with each other before he travels off to OSU. I'll surely miss him, but we're definitely closer than we ever have been. We tell each other secrets, "I love yous", and promises. Colleges with dorms are more different than colleges without, so he promised me to never start drugs, drinking, or cheating. It makes me feel more secure when he tells me these things so I can count on him to keep his promise. There have been times where promises were broken (and even hearts), but I'm just glad that we're together now. :) And for any readers out there, love is inevitable, you will experience the happiness and pains it comes with, but eventually you'll find "the one" and they will find You.
Jumping at the trampoline park brought so many memories (in my journal I wrote this word with a green pen) of my childhood. Now that I'm 18, I forgot about my childhood. Descending and ascending on the trampolines made me remember about the times I would jump on my best friend's trampoline at her house while spending the night. I miss those days. Life goes by a lot faster than I thought. I remember when I would wish Oh, if I were 16... or Geez, I can't wait until I'm 18 so I can get away from here... I'm really glad I didn't take that too seriously because now I'm happy at where I'm at. I have food, a bed, plenty of pets, air conditioner (thank goodness, because it's like 90+ degrees). We might not have a lot of money, but we do have necessities. Be thankful!

Storenvy and Swapping

I finally got around to opening my own Storenvy and starting uploading some charms to sell. Everything is pretty cheap and I'd love it if you checked it out! :) Another thing I'm glad to do is swaps! I'm super excited because I'm swapping snacks and candy with a girl from the United Kingdom. She's going to send me popular candies from there and I'm sending here popular candies from America. Something that really surprised me is that they don't have Jolly Ranchers there! LIKE HOLY CRAP. How can you live without those succulent little hard candies. :( Nor do they have Chick-O-Sticks! Wow... but they do have the most popular candy... Kinder Surprise Egg. They're everywhere... but America. America banned them because they were considered a choking hazard. That's also why they got rid of the Wonder Ball (good-bye childhood). But all is well! :) This is what penpals and swaps are for!
I'm so excited about trying the candy and snacks that I almost forgot... I start Composition II today at 5p.m. Great joy. I've already taken it once but I was failed because I would keep missing days of class due to high school band. :( Oh, well. I like the professor anyways. He's very understanding and funny.
Time to go make more polymer clay charms and such for my Storenvy now. If you have a bit of free time, I hope you'll check it out. :) Here's a coupon code for free shipping off your entire purchase. (Save it until I get more items uploaded though. It never expires.) FREESHIPN

Sickness and in Strength?

Lately my expectations of summer plummeted. I went to the clinic Tuesday morning and had a strep and mononucleosis test done. Both came back positive. :( This now explains why I've been sleeping 13+ hours and not eating.
This is the fifth time I've had strep in a year. My mom and I finally came to a conclusion and decided that when I'm not longer sick, we're going to schedule an appointment with an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) surgeon to have my tonsils removed. I don't like surgeries (had my wisdom teeth pulled out in 2013), but if it will get rid of this horrible on-and-off sickness, that'd be just peachy.
Since strep is curable, I've been taking penicillin pills for it. But mono is not curable with a medication; it just has to run its course. Its been pretty strong at certain times of the day and knocks me out cold. Other times I feel wide awake and ambitious. (And I thought my period was wack.)
Hopefully I'll start to feel better by July because I start college and my CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) course. I am super excited to become a nurse! I have to work at a nursing home for a while then I want to switch over to a pediatric hospital (St. Francis). I'll be making more money than I did working at Sonic or McDonald's and be able to afford more kawaii and Japanese things! Also, I need to save up for my trip to Japan. Should I buy squishies while I'm there? Would anyone want some (Instagram friends? Penpals?) Does anyone even read this?
My boyfriend did come over for a long time though which made me a very happy girl. :) He and I would cuddle in my bed and watch YouTube videos (mainly Jacksepticeye and Pewdiepie) until we both fall sleep.

First Postcard Swap!

I received my first postcard swap (along with a Hello Kitty button) from New York! (:
Although I received that, I also had to go fix the shipment of my package to another one of my penpals. She was supposed to get it Monday but it took them forever to sort it, so then it said it would arrive Thursday. Well, they actually shipped it all the way to San Antonio then sent it back to Oklahoma. -_- Come on, USPS. Get with the program.

Beginning

Hi! I'm Samantha.

Cut my bangs recently.
I am a 17 year old girl from Oklahoma who loves cats and crafts. I'll be 18 in August.
I started this blog so I can show the world what I do, how I do it, and why I do it. A few things I like to do right now are:
  • postcard swaps
  • send penpal or snailmail letters
  • create polymer clay charms and jewelry
  • create resin charms
  • draw
And one of my greatest dreams or accomplishments is to go to Japan. If I collect enough money, I will be able to go in May of 2015 with my college class.
I know many other people who have blogs, but I don't follow them as frequently as I would like to. Now that I have made my own, I can post my own thoughts and reblog ideas I see on other websites.
I won't make this into a diary-type site because I believe diaries or journals are private and shouldn't be shared with anyone. Especially not to the internet! Actually, think of my blog as an unorganized schedule or planner. I don't do a whole lot, but since I have just graduated high school, I think my life is about to change. A lot. And I don't want to miss any chances. I can't wait to explore the world and meet new people! There are so many things I want to do in this life! I just want to pack my bags and go wherever the roads take me. So I hope you'll join me in my adventures and give your opinion on my future life here in Oklahoma.

-Sam
